The Kennewick School District always waits until THE LAST POSSIBLE SECOND to cancel school. I knew yesterday there would be a two hour delay. Then I got up this morning, checked out the back window for new snow. There is so much out there, I couldn't tell if there was any new snow, so I went to the front. There was no snow or ice on my car, so I figured school would just be on the delay. I went back to bed for an hour or so, and then got up to get in the shower. I thought I should double check the snow hotline, though, before I got in. It still said two hour delay. So I took my shower.
As I was drying off, I heard the phone ring. I went to the kitchen to grab the phone, and saw Laurie's name on the caller i.d. At that point my heart started racing. You see, we have what we call the "phone tree" during the winter. It was originally me, Laurie and Tracy. Now it's just me and Laurie. (More on that later...)
I answered, "Hello?"
"Hi Kristina, it's Laurie. Sid (Laurie's husband) was watching the news and it said that KSD closed. I was wondering if you could check the website to make sure?"
"YES!!! Hang on a second!!" I ran to the computer, phone in hand, dripping wet, wearing nothing but a towel.
I checked, and sure enough, the message was changed at some point during my shower! NO SCHOOL!! This is going to really suck later on when we have to make it up, but today, I'm happy. Very happy.
I have nothing to do, though, after three days of snow, I'm sort of bored. But I'm thrilled to have an unexpected day off...again.

hope you had a fun time with your snow day. We had a two hour delay today, and it was raining (I guess other areas got snow overnight though). And Em stayed home from school anyway, so it didn't affect us either way. LOL
