Do you have a PostSecret?

Yesterday one of my more creative (and to be honest - flaky) students came to me and asked me if I had ever seen a PostSecret. She thought it would be a great project for English class, and wanted to know if we could do it. I hadn't ever heard of it before, so I asked her to explain what it was.

Basically, it's a website that people can post anonymous secrets to. You decide on a secret that you want to tell, create a postcard, incorporate your secret on the picture side, and mail it to the address on the website. The blog creator chooses some of the postcards and posts them on his site once a week. It all started as a community art project, and has evolved into a way for people to unburden themselves anonymously with their deepest secrets.

It's intriguing. I got online to check it out myself this morning. Some of the secrets were entirely disturbing. Some of them are endearing. Some of them are heartbreaking. There's no way to go back and view past postcards. It's truly a way to unburden yourself and then move on.

Here are a few of the post secrets from this week. I'm sure I'll be checking it out tomorrow to see what's new.
