How hot is it??

I thought yesterday was hot. I was wrong. Today is supposed to be 104. Good golly that's hot. Thank goodness we have the pool!! J and I are going to run up to the school today and arrange my classroom (thanks J!!), and then I think we'll come back, slather on some sunscreen, grab some water and a magazine and hang out in the pool for a few hours.

I always hate how hot it is when we go back to school. This year, though, the last few weeks haven't been too bad. Unseasonably cool, in fact. Though that means mid to upper 80s and low 90s. I still crack up when the weather reporter forecasts a cooling trend during the summer. The first summer I lived here and I heard that I got excited! Then I realized that in his eyes, a "cooling trend" meant that it cooled from 105 to 99. Thanks for getting my hopes up.

Then yesterday came along and it was 101. Next week, by the end of the week, we are supposed to "cool off" to the low 90s. I'm hoping that it will continue to cool, though. When it's really hot, the air conditioner at the school has a hard time adjusting to all the bodies in the building and the heat outside. It's either way too hot or way too cold in my classroom. Luckily, it's usually on the too cold side. But the rest of the building tends to be warmer. But that makes it not fun trying to figure out what to wear. If I dress for the weather, I freeze inside. If I dress for the temperature of my classroom I get sweaty outside and in some areas of the building. Then I'm worried about sweat marks on my shirt. Even worse, at the first sign of heat, my face turns beet red and my head starts to sweat.

I hate that during school. I'm always excited around October. Then we're back into normal temperatures. And, then, when the weather starts to get bad, the kids are more focused on school rather than wishing they were out boating on the river.

your "cooling off" of low 90's is our record breaking heat and I'm DYING HERE! Even in the shade, I was clammy with sweat and miserable. My house got up to 80 degrees inside and we were ALL crabby and out of sorts. sigh...

enjoy your pool!!

I grew up in New Jersey (with 100% humidity) and Arizona (where 65 is cold)- you would think I was used to the heat..... I'm melting!
