Don't bother me

I have a lot of pet peeves, but this one has come to the forefront recently, and it just won't go away.

I have pretty strong beliefs, but for the most part I keep those beliefs to myself. There's nothing more irritating than someone who tries to push their beliefs on you. In the past few months leading up to this election, I've bitten my tongue so many times I'm pretty sure I now have calluses. Whether it's religious or political beliefs you're trying to push, I'm not interested. I am quite positive that as strong as your convictions are, mine are equally strong. I'm not knocking on your door or cluttering up your inbox with my beliefs, so I'd appreciate the same consideration.

You see, regardless of who we elect as president, that's one of the beautiful things about America: I am entitled to my beliefs as you are entitled to yours. And I can guarantee you that no matter how much I love and / or respect you, you will not change my value system no matter how hard you try. I am old and set in my ways.

So go bother someone else.
