Lincoln City

About a week ago I went with my friend Lynn to Lincoln City, Oregon. We had a blast!! Her parents have a house right on Devil's Lake, and she and her brother have a cabin right across the street. We spent most of the week with her mom, but that was okay. Her mom, Joanne, is an amazing woman. Last year she had congestive heart failure, and spent four months in the hospital, very near death. It was really nice to meet her and see how well she's doing. She is on an oxygen tank, so we were a bit limited by that, but we had a great time nonetheless. I had such a good time, I forgot to bring out my camera every day, except for one. We went to go sightseeing a bit. I've been to many places on the Oregon Coast, but I've never been to Lincoln City, Newport, Depoe Bay, etc.

Here are some of the pictures I took. We saw a lot of little towns that day...

This was at a place called Devil's Punchbowl. The pictures don't show it as well as I had hoped, but there's this big cave in the cliff, which is not unusual. What is unusual is the fact that there is no top to the cave. You can see right down inside. It's pretty neat in person. In the first picture you can see it just off to the right at the top of the picture. It looks like a big hole in the rock. There are other angles in the next pictures.

Before we got to Devil's Punchbowl we were at Cape Foulweather. While we were there we could see a grey whale down near where the boat is in the picture! It was pretty cool. I was not able to catch it spraying or its tail coming out of the water, but it was neat to see nonetheless.

These pictures were at Cape Foulweather. The coastline is just amazing.

There were thousands of birds on this cliff at Yaquinta Lighthouse. They were loud and kind of stinky. See how the rocks are white at the top?? That's not minerals...that's bird poop. Yuck.

When you are looking out at the birds, this is Yaquinta Lighthouse, and it is at your back.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lincoln City! We went often when I was a kid, and we have been back three times since I've had my own kids. Dan's used to warm-water/hot-sand beaches of the east coast, so isn't excited, but the kids and I adore Lincoln City. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. We never really do any extra sight-seeing when we go. We simply play on the beach, shop at the outlet stores, fly kites, more playing, relaxing, etc. LOL
