I am the advisor for a mentoring program for freshmen. Basically, I have 72 juniors and seniors who I train once a month on a particular topic, and then they go visit freshmen in their English classes and talk about that topic with them. Every other year we rotate between English and Social Studies classes. This year we are in English, and I am teaching freshmen. I have the added bonus of getting to see firsthand my mentors interacting with my freshmen. It's pretty cool usually. Sometimes, though, it's pretty funny.
In November, our topic was "Gossip."
In my fourth hour class, B is a junior and he has a group of 5 frosh, all boys. He typically "adopts" a few more, though, who would rather be with a boy than a girl mentor.
B was sitting with his 7 boys and said, "Okay, guys, how would you define gossip?"
Without missing a beat, M responded "Girls."
Well, he got that right, didn't he?
