DNA served sunny side up

Five minutes left at the end of 6th hour. I’m not going to try to get their attention back one more time so I can read to them. I just won’t. Pull out my word play overheads and put them up on the document camera. I’m throwing Jolly Ranchers at kids who guess correctly. J, aka “The kid with the coolest last name ever”, comes up to me after school and says, “Do I get one if I can spell a word you can’t?”

I said, “Game on. Whatcha got?”

He says, “Spell deoxyribonucleic acid.”

I said, “Okay. D-e-o-x-y-r-i-b-o-n-u-c-l-e-i-c a-c-i-d.”

He said, “Dang it.”

S said, “J, you just got served!”

I gave him a Jolly Rancher.

Sometimes, I love my job.

LOL! I think I'd have said "d-i-o...." and been wrong. WHEW, lucky for you you're smart. That would have been a long year, huh?
