I love you, too

When J and I got married, we went to the Oregon Coast for our honeymoon. We were only there for a few short days, but we had a blast. We went to Fort Stevens, where I used to camp all the time as a kid. It was kind of fun to go back, and this time with my husband.

I've talked before about how J and I have very different beliefs about camping, but I'll summarize them again here: I like to be in an established campground with running water. If we are in a trailer / motor home with electricity, a stove, a fridge and a door that locks, it's that much better. J believes that vault toilets are an unnecessary luxury, and if there is another single living soul within a fifteen mile radius, you're way too close to others.

We compromised for our honeymoon, and camped in a tent in a real campground. He got to experience hikes through the woods each evening when he had to walk me to the bathroom. Hey, he knew long before we got married that I was a chicken. The fact is, he takes some sort of sick pleasure out of terrifying me with camping horror stories. So I don't feel bad at all that I make him walk me to the bathroom and wait for me outside. If it's a vault toilet, he has to check it the first few times before I will even use it. Don't feel bad for him, though, it's his fault. Really.

Anyway, we had a lot of fun on our honeymoon. We walked on the beach, we visited Battery Russell, we drove into Seaside and played Fascination. We drove down to Canon Beach and took pictures near Haystack Rock. We sat on the beach and people watched for a few hours. Then, we went to Moe's and had dinner on the deck and watched the sun go down over the ocean. Way cool, and about as romantic as the two of us get.

While we were waiting for the sun to go down, we took goofy pictures of each other. Here are two of the least embarrassing...

J was really sweet when we were on the beach. We took a few pictures of each other, and then he grabbed a stick. He started writing a message in the sand, but wouldn't let me look until he was done. Here's what he wrote:

I thought that was really sweet, but then he topped himself with another idea. He wrote our names and wedding date in the sand, and then we posed for a self-portrait. How cute and creative was this picture? It's one of my all time favorites!

All in all, our honeymoon was a lot of fun. There were a few tense moments (remind me to tell you sometime about the hot dogs and putting up the tent), but we had a great time.
